In short

  • Seven IPOs listed on 17 September 2026. Of the 6 with an opening price, 4 opened above the top of the band, 1 exactly at it and 1 below it.
  • The strongest open was LCC Projects at ₹189, +29.5% above the ₹146 top of its band; the weakest was Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions at ₹330, −2.7% below the ₹339 top of its band.
  • Listings on the same morning went both ways, so the day says more about demand for each individual book than about the IPO market as a whole.
  • The listing price is struck in a special pre-open call auction. It is the market’s first price, not a gain anyone has earned unless they sold into it.
  • A book-built issue prices at its cut-off, so this page compares each opening print against the top of the band, and says so rather than calling it the issue price.

Seven IPOs listed on 17 September 2026: Rentomojo, Karamtara Engineering, Asset Reconstruction Company, Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions, LCC Projects, Steamhouse India and Vinod Texworld. This page records how each opened against the top of its own price band, what the issue itself was, and where the share stood at the last reading we hold — with the thing listing-day coverage usually blurs stated plainly: an opening price is a price, not a result.

How they opened

  • Rentomojo (RENTOMOJO) opened at ₹482.45 — +19.4% above the ₹404 top of its band.
  • Karamtara Engineering (KARAMTARA) opened at ₹320 — +26.0% above the ₹254 top of its band.
  • Asset Reconstruction Company (ARCIL) opened at ₹139 — exactly at the ₹139 top of its band.
  • Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions (MPIMANIPAL) opened at ₹330 — −2.7% below the ₹339 top of its band.
  • LCC Projects (LCCPROJECT) opened at ₹189 — +29.5% above the ₹146 top of its band.
  • Steamhouse India (STEAMHOUSE) opened at ₹94.50 — +16.7% above the ₹81 top of its band.

Vinod Texworld (an SME issue) is not in that comparison: the data we hold carries no opening price for it, and this page does not supply one from elsewhere. The exchange's own page for the symbol has it.

So the morning was not one story. Rentomojo, Karamtara Engineering, LCC Projects and Steamhouse India opened above the top of their band, Asset Reconstruction Company opened exactly at it, and Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions opened below the top of its band. Same market, same session, different outcomes — which is the plainest argument available against reading any one listing as a verdict on "the IPO market".

What a listing price does and does not tell you

The opening price on listing day comes out of a special pre-open call auction: orders are collected for a set window and matched at a single price before continuous trading begins. It is the first price at which the exchange could clear that book — the market’s opening opinion, formed by whoever wanted in or out that morning.

Three things follow, and all three go missing in listing-day headlines. An opening price is not a return: it is realised only by someone who actually sells there, and an allottee who holds watches it keep moving. A price above the band is not proof the issue was cheap, and one below is not proof the company is weak — both are statements about demand in one session. And a single day says nothing about the business itself, whose results arrive quarterly, long after the listing has stopped being news.

To check any of this yourself rather than trust a screenshot: allotment status is published by the issue’s own registrar and by both exchanges, and the live price sits on the exchange page for the symbol. Our IPO Center carries the calendar, and the recently listed list keeps the issues that have already come to market.

What actually happens next

Two dated things sit ahead of any newly listed company, and neither is a forecast. Anchor investors — the institutions allotted shares the day before the issue opened — hold under a lock-in that releases in stages under SEBI’s ICDR regulations rather than all at once, so a tranche of stock becomes sellable on known dates. And the first results published as a listed company are the first time the market prices it on reported numbers instead of a prospectus.

Neither is a reason to buy or sell. They are simply the next two moments that bring genuinely new information, as distinct from the price merely moving.

Frequently asked questions

Which IPOs listed on 17 September 2026?

Rentomojo, Karamtara Engineering, Asset Reconstruction Company, Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions, LCC Projects, Steamhouse India and Vinod Texworld listed on 17 September 2026. Rentomojo opened at ₹482.45, +19.4% above the ₹404 top of its band; Karamtara Engineering opened at ₹320, +26.0% above the ₹254 top of its band; Asset Reconstruction Company opened at ₹139, exactly at the ₹139 top of its band; Manipal Payment and Identity Solutions opened at ₹330, −2.7% below the ₹339 top of its band; LCC Projects opened at ₹189, +29.5% above the ₹146 top of its band; Steamhouse India opened at ₹94.50, +16.7% above the ₹81 top of its band.

Is the listing price the same as the issue price?

No. The issue price is what allottees paid, struck at the cut-off of the book-built price band. The listing price is the first price the exchange matches on listing day, in a special pre-open auction, and it can be above, at or below that band.

Does a strong listing mean the IPO was a good investment?

Not on its own. An opening price reflects demand in one session. It is a gain only for someone who sells at it, and it says nothing about the revenue, margins or debt the company will ultimately be priced on.

Where can I check my allotment or the current price?

Allotment status is published by the issue’s registrar and on the BSE and NSE allotment pages. The current price is on the exchange page for the symbol. Both are free, and they are the source everything else is quoting.
