A main-board application and an SME one are not the same thing

Kheria Autocomp and SpectraA Technology Solutions are on the SME platform, and the differences matter more than the price band suggests. SME issues are sold in much larger minimum lots, so the smallest possible application is usually a multiple of a main-board one — check the lot size in the offer document before anything else. After listing, SME shares also trade in those same lots, which makes a small holding harder to sell in part.

None of that makes an SME issue better or worse. It makes it a different kind of commitment, and the right comparison for one is another SME issue, not a main-board name opening the same day.

Before you apply

Applications go through ASBA: your bank blocks the amount when you bid and releases it if you are not allotted, so nothing is debited until allotment. Most people apply through their broker with a UPI mandate, which has to be approved in the UPI app before the bidding window closes — an unapproved mandate is not a bid.

One application per PAN is the rule; several from the same PAN are rejected. Retail investors can bid at the cut-off price, which means accepting whatever price the book settles at within the band. And the offer document — the red herring prospectus — is where the business, the risks and the use of the money are actually set out; a grey-market number on a social feed is not a substitute for it.
