This projection assumes a constant rate of return for the whole period. It is an estimate only — actual returns vary, are not guaranteed, and nothing here is investment advice.
Estimated from the numbers you entered — not a projection of guaranteed returns.
About this calculator
A SIP invests a fixed amount every month, so each instalment compounds for a different length of time. This calculator applies the standard monthly-compounding annuity formula to show what the maths implies for the rate you assume. The return rate is your input, not a forecast — funds do not pay a fixed rate.
Formula
- FV = P × [ ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i ] × (1 + i)
- i = annual return ÷ 12 ÷ 100, n = number of monthly instalments
- Estimated returns = FV − (P × n)
Frequently asked questions
Does a SIP guarantee this return?
No. The rate is an assumption you enter. Market-linked investments have no fixed return, and the actual outcome can be higher or lower.
Why does the calculator use monthly compounding?
Each instalment is invested a month apart, so each one earns for a different number of months. Converting the annual rate to a monthly rate is the standard way to reflect that.
What if I want to raise the instalment every year?
Use the step-up SIP calculator, which increases the monthly amount by a fixed percentage each year.
