Rates and statutory charges change. Verify current charges with your broker, the exchange and SEBI before relying on these figures. Figures are estimates for planning, not a contract note, and nothing here is advice to buy or sell. DP charges apply only to delivery sells — buying shares and intraday trades do not attract them. Selling the same scrip in several orders on one day is still charged once.
Estimated from the numbers you entered — not a projection of guaranteed returns. Statutory and exchange rates as of 2026-08.
About this calculator
When shares leave your demat account on a delivery sell, the depository and your broker levy a flat charge. It is per scrip per day and does not depend on how many shares or how much value moved — which is why selling one share and selling ten thousand of the same scrip on the same day cost the same.
Formula
- Base charge = (Depository charge + Broker charge) × Number of scrips sold
- GST = 18% × Base charge
- Total = Base charge + GST
Frequently asked questions
Do DP charges depend on the value of the shares I sell?
No. It is a flat amount per scrip per day, so it hurts small sells far more than large ones in percentage terms.
Do I pay DP charges when I buy?
No. Shares entering your demat account are free; the charge is on the debit when you sell.
Why do brokers quote different DP charges?
The depository’s share is common, but every broker adds its own markup. Both halves are editable above so you can match your own broker.
